Russia's Sberbank to Build Data Center in Saratov Region

Sberbank, the Government of Saratov Region, and PJSC Rosseti have signed on Wednesday a memorandum of intent covering the construction of the bank's local data center in Saratov Region, Russia.

Herman Gref, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank, said: "Assisting the innovative development of regions is an important area of Sber's work, and this project is a good example of synergy between the efforts of business and government agencies. "

Valery Radayev, Governor of Saratov Region, commented: "Due to being part of the Special Economic Zone, the region has faced new opportunities which simplify project and investment activities greatly. SEZ preferences are multiplied by our resource advantages, one of which is the excessive energy supply due to the Balakovo NPP. Thus, there's everything you need to create a high-tech data center, which will become part of Sberbank's large-scale national project."

The data center with a total area of computer rooms reaching 10,380 square meters is scheduled to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2027. The construction will have three stages: the first is set to be completed in 1Q23, the second will be completed in 1Q25, and the third one will be over in 1Q27. The construction area will be 59,265 square meters, taking into account the administrative and detached buildings of guaranteed power supply systems. The total area of technological modules will reach 62,436 square meters.

The data center will be certified as Tier 3 fault-tolerant according to the Uptime Institute classification. Circuitry solutions of engineering systems will make competitive maintenance and repair possible without compromising the availability of information systems located in the data center.
