Saudi Exchange Introduces TASI50 Index

Saudi Exchange (or Tadawul), one of the largest and the most liquid stock markets in the MENA region, announced the introduction of the TASI50 Index, which tracks the top 50 firms listed on the Saudi Exchange by total market capitalization and is calculated in real-time.

According to the announcement, the TASI50 Index, with a minimum annual traded value ratio (ATVR) of 5%, is an important tool for individual and institutional investors, which can provide a real-time overview of market performance and can be used to develop financial products as well as enhance risk management strategies.

Mohammed Al Rumaih, CEO of the Saudi Exchange, commented: "The introduction of the TASI50 Index is a significant achievement for the Saudi capital market, providing investors with a comprehensive overview of the performance of the top 50 companies listed on the Saudi Exchange. This index offers a benchmark for investment products, allowing investors to track and benchmark performance based on specific criteria. With this index, both local and foreign investors can access a diverse range of investment opportunities in our dynamic and growing capital market, contributing to the continued development and growth of the Saudi economy."

The launch of the TASI50 Index comes after the Saudi Exchange introduced the Size Indices and IPO Index in September 2023. The Size Indices give investors benchmarks that can help them diversify their investment strategies and take advantage of specific opportunities in the market. The Tadawul IPO Index tracks the performance of companies listed on the Main Market within the past five years. It offers investors a benchmark to assess the performance of Saudi IPOs and presents chances to invest in emerging and rapidly growing companies.

Saudi Exchange stated that the launch of the TASI50 index, along with the Size Indices and IPO Index, marks important achievements in meeting the goals set forth in the Financial Sector Development Program of Saudi Vision 2030.
