Saxo Bank Veteran Casper Andreas Solbakken Departs Following Ownership Shift
Casper Andreas Solbakken, a long-serving executive at Saxo Bank, has stepped down after more than two decades with the firm. His departure follows closely on the heels of a change in the bank's ownership structure.
Earlier this month, J. Safra Sarasin Group finalized its acquisition of a majority stake in the Danish trading platform and appointed Daniel Belfer as its new chief executive. Solbakken announced his exit via a LinkedIn post, stating, "after 20 incredible years at Saxo Bank, the time has come for me to start a new chapter."
He reflected that his tenure "shaped me profoundly," strengthening his leadership and broadening his perspective. Solbakken also noted the experience reinforced his belief in "disciplined execution, strategic clarity, and strong collaboration across teams and functions."
His most recent role was Global Head of Commercial Offering & Experience, a position he assumed in May 2024. Previously, he held several senior leadership positions including Global Head of Products, Pricing and Platforms, and Global Head of Products and Services.
Solbakken's career at Saxo Bank spanned from a quantitative trader for over a decade to Head of Equities and various product specialist roles. He initially joined the industry as a student assistant in the equities and derivatives division.
With the completion of the ownership deal, which received regulatory approval from FINMA and Denmark's FSA after a year-long process, the combined entity now oversees more than $460 billion in client assets. J. Safra Sarasin manages a similar amount across over 35 locations, while its parent, J. Safra Group, controls $590 billion in assets globally.
