Saxo Bank's CCO, Stig Christensen, Announces Departure
Stig Christensen, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Saxo Bank, has left the company after a decade-long tenure at the Copenhagen-based online broker. Christensen joined Saxo Bank in 2016 as Chief Human Resources Officer, transitioned to Chief Sales Officer in 2020, and became CCO in 2024.
His departure comes amidst a series of senior executive exits from Saxo Bank ahead of its sale to the Safra Group, a deal announced early last year and expected to close in 2026. Other executives who have recently left include Customer Director Thomas Dam, Saxo UK’s Dan Squires (who will become CCO at ADSS), Asia marketing head Nicolò Pagliari, and UK marketing head Anaam Raza.
Christensen shared a post on social media regarding his decision to resign:
"THANK YOU!"
"After careful consideration, I decided to step down from my position as Chief Commercial Officer at Saxo Bank this autumn. The past 10 years have been rewarding yet demanding. I am thankful for the opportunities and challenges I've faced with Saxo, especially under the leadership of Kim Fournais. I've learned so much, worked hard, and felt accomplished, surrounded by incredibly talented colleagues."
"Looking back on over 41 years of professional experience with Carlsberg Group, Mirrorman, Russell Reynolds Associates, and Saxo Bank, I am filled with gratitude for all the remarkable people I’ve encountered, who have helped shape me both personally and professionally. The challenges I’ve faced have made me grow in ways I never could have imagined."
"Many have asked what comes next. For the first time, I don’t have a plan. My wife jokes about me spending too much time reading newspapers and tracking my cycling on Strava 🚴♂️... and she’s probably right."
"Now, I’m simply open to whatever comes next, without any timelines or expectations."
"Thank you to all, take care, and remember to reflect a little more. I haven’t done enough of that myself."
