Danish trading and investment platform Saxo has joined the UK-based Platforms Association, a trade body formed in 2024 to represent providers of investment services across Britain and Europe.

The Platforms Association was launched a year ago to give firms a collective voice in regulatory and policy discussions. Founding members included almost 50 companies such as Fidelity and Hargreaves Lansdown. The group focuses on issues like custody, settlement, distribution, and portfolio management services, while also promoting industry best practices.

Keith Phillips, CEO of the Platforms Association, welcomed Saxo's entry, stating, "Platforms are democratizing investing, transforming how millions of retail investors and their advisors manage their financial futures. Having Saxo's involvement significantly strengthens our collective voice."

Saxo UK CEO Andrew Bresler echoed the sentiment, saying the company was "delighted to join at a pivotal moment of technological and policy evolution in our industry. A unified voice is essential to shape regulation and foster sustainable growth."

Saxo has been actively expanding in the UK market. The platform reported strong demographic shifts among new customers: under-25s now account for 15% of sign-ups, compared to 9% in 2023, and women represent 18% of new clients, triple the share recorded the year before.

Globally, Saxo saw new client growth surge by 132% year-on-year after introducing a new pricing structure and flexible ISA product. The company manages over $100 billion in client assets worldwide and provides technology services to more than 120 financial institutions.

Despite strong global momentum, Saxo's UK subsidiary recorded weaker financial results in 2024. Net profit fell 32%, from £11.2 million to £7.6 million, while revenue dropped 13% to £24 million.
