Sberbank Partners with Mastercard to Launch Contactless Payment Solution

Sberbank, the largest Bank in Russia, Central and Eastern Europe&one of the leading international financial institutions, has teamed up with Mastercard on its contactless payment solution- SberPay, which is available to all Mastercard holders using NFC-enabled Android smartphones.

Sberbank launched its own contactless payment system SberPay in the summer of 2020, in fact, an analogue of Apple Pay and Google Pay. However, only Visa cards have been supported before. But today’s partnership added Mastercard to SberPay’s support too.

Under this collaboration, SberPay allows the holders to pay via their smartphone by tapping it against POS terminals featuring Mastercard’s contactless solution in stores that have them. To do that, they just need the Sberbank Online app and a Sberbank Mastercard associated with it.

To popularize proximity payments, Sberbank and Mastercard have teamed up and rolled out a marketing campaign called It’s All in Your Hands, which will run until November 29, 2020.

The SberPay service for contactless payments has now become available to holders of Mastercards using Android smartphones.
