SBI , FPT, and Sumitomo Form Strategic Alliance for AI Development

SBI Holdings, Inc. today announced the formation of a strategic partnership with FPT Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation. The alliance is aimed at accelerating the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

As part of this collaboration, the three companies will jointly invest in FPT Smart Cloud Japan Co., Ltd. This entity provides AI solution services, including the GPU Cloud resources considered essential for AI applications.

Following the investment, FPT Corporation's wholly-owned subsidiary, FPT Japan Holdings Co., Ltd., will hold a 60% ownership stake in FPT Smart Cloud Japan. SBI Holdings and Sumitomo Corporation will each hold a 20% ownership stake.

FPT Corporation, headquartered in Vietnam, is described as a global technology and IT services provider. As an NVIDIA partner, FPT Corporation is stated to be able to secure a stable supply of GPUs. In November 2024, FPT Corporation launched FPT AI Factory, described as a comprehensive suite for the end-to-end AI development lifecycle, and established FPT Smart Cloud Japan with the goal of creating an ecosystem of products and solutions based on AI and cloud technologies.

Through this alliance, SBI Holdings stated it will work with FPT and Sumitomo Corporation to develop new AI solutions and expand its AI service business. The three companies also intend to accelerate their research capabilities and the utilization of AI applications and generative AI for corporate customers, aiming to contribute to improvements in productivity and customer experience across various industries.
