SBI Holdings Invests $50 Million in Clear Street, Eyes Japan Joint Venture
SBI Holdings, Inc. has made a strategic investment of USD 50 million in Clear Street Group, Inc., a U.S.-based provider of capital markets infrastructure operating in the United States and Europe.
Alongside the investment, the two companies have agreed to pursue a strategic partnership aimed at forming a joint venture. If established in Japan, the joint venture could explore business opportunities in areas including equities trading, prime brokerage, and digital asset-related services.
Clear Street operates a cloud-based platform offering equities trading, clearing, and risk management services. The company serves institutional investors, hedge funds, and individual investors, with a business model designed to consolidate multiple asset classes on a single system while reducing fixed costs through cloud-native infrastructure.
SBI Holdings said the investment aligns with its broader strategy to expand its financial services ecosystem and strengthen its overseas business platform. The company noted that Clear Street's technology-driven approach and flexible operating model are consistent with its growth objectives.
Through the partnership, the two firms plan to combine SBI Group's customer base and international network with Clear Street's capital markets platform. The collaboration is expected to focus on expanding access for institutional investors and small- to mid-sized funds, while broadening product offerings and improving service efficiency.
