SBI Holdings to make additional investment in Fasset
SBI Holdings has announced an additional investment in Fasset, a global platform for stablecoin settlement and crypto-asset trading. The corporate value of Fasset, based on the acquisition price of shares in this round, is estimated at USD 1 billion.
The SBI Group views digital asset-based financial services as a key growth driver and is building an international digital asset distribution network. As part of that effort, SBI made a strategic investment in Fasset in May 2026, and its subsidiary SBI Remit subsequently signed a memorandum of understanding with Fasset to develop next-generation international remittance infrastructure.
Fasset provides remittance, settlement and investment services using stablecoins, primarily across Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Its proprietary "Own Network" connects 16 blockchain networks and over 100 banking corridors, with more than 3 million wallets across 125 countries and regions. SBI aims to strengthen its capital relationship with Fasset and enhance collaboration.
Beyond this investment, SBI plans to make Fasset an equity-method affiliate through further share acquisitions, jointly operate a digital bank in Malaysia with Fasset, and co-distribute tokens issued by Fasset. In emerging markets across Asia, the Middle East and Africa, many individuals and businesses lack bank accounts but have high mobile penetration, offering significant digital banking potential. SBI intends to combine its Japanese banking, securities and insurance expertise with Fasset's stablecoin settlement infrastructure to advance financial inclusion in these regions.
