Authorities in Seychelles have introduced a joint enforcement policy aimed at strengthening oversight of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) obligations across the financial sector.

The Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS), the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), and the Financial Services Authority (FSA) signed the agreement on September 18, 2025, during a ceremony at the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade. Members of the National AML/CFT Committee attended the event, underscoring a coordinated national approach.

The policy sets out guiding principles for fair, consistent, and effective enforcement. It is designed to promote compliance with the AML/CFT Act and related laws, ensure accountability for non-compliant firms, and encourage continuous voluntary adherence to regulatory standards.

It also seeks to harmonize supervisory practices among the three agencies, aligning with international standards and the risk-based approach outlined in the AML/CFT Act. By coordinating enforcement responses, the authorities aim to deliver greater consistency in how breaches are addressed.

Officials said the initiative reflects Seychelles' ongoing commitment to safeguarding its financial system against illicit activity. The CBS, FIU, and FSA plan to work closely together to ensure enforcement actions are applied effectively, strengthening resilience to money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes.
