SGX FX Adopts Chainlink to Distribute OTC Forex Data On-Chain

The platform, which serves over 200 financial institutions, will use Chainlink's DataLink service aimed at institutional data vendors. The initial data feed covers spot and one-month forward prices for major G10, Asian, and emerging market currency pairs.

The integration leverages Chainlink's existing network to extend SGX FX's market data into more than 2,600 applications across over 75 blockchains. This infrastructure will make the data available to developers building tokenized assets, structured products, and hedging tools on public blockchains. Hugh Whelan, Head of Liquidity Management and Data at SGX FX, stated, "Working with Chainlink allows us to support new workflows and use cases while staying aligned with the robust standards our participants expect."

SGX FX enters a competitive field of on-chain FX data providers. Devexperts' dxFeed launched a Chainlink oracle node in April 2021, and NewChange FX began pushing benchmark FX data through the network later that same year. More recently, the Pyth Network has attracted institutional contributors like B2C2, which joined in October 2025 to feed pricing data to over 600 decentralized applications.

SGX FX distinguishes itself through its established franchise, stemming from Singapore Exchange's 2021 acquisition of MaxxTrader. The venue reported OTC FX net revenue rising 35.7% to S$55 million in its most recent fiscal year.

The partnership aligns with Chainlink's strategy to bridge traditional finance and tokenized markets. Fernando Vazquez, President of Capital Markets at Chainlink Labs, called the adoption "a clear milestone in the convergence of onchain finance and the world's largest markets." The broader use of OTC FX data as on-chain collateral remains an open question, as most tokenized real-world asset projects have focused on other instruments like U.S. Treasuries.

This deal coincides with SGX FX's ongoing expansion, which recently included adding BBVA's Latin American currency pricing and onboarding ADSS as a market maker. The venue also facilitated BBVA's round-the-clock retail crypto trading offering. SGX FX did not disclose pricing details, named on-chain customers, or revenue-sharing arrangements for the Chainlink integration.
