SGX Group Posts 31% MoM Jump in September FX Futures Volume

Singapore Exchange (SGX Group) has revealed its market statistics for September 2022, indicating a jump in multiple trading metrics.

According to the official press release, SGX Group registered a derivatives daily average volume of 1.05 million contracts, an increase of 14% compared to August. Total traded volume for the month rose 14% MoM to 22.8 million contracts.

Moreover, futures traded volume on SGX FX came in at 3.42 million contracts, increased by 31% on a MoM basis. Total notional traded value for the month in excess of US$205 billion. 

SGX USD/CNH Futures volume climbed 36% MoM and 73% YoY to 1.6 million contracts. Open interest gained 19% YoY to US$11.12 billion. SGX INR/USD Futures volume stood at 1.63 million contracts, up by 25% compared with the last month.

​​Total commodities traded volume stood at 3.04 million contracts, increased by 23% compared to the same period in 2021. Equity index futures volume for September reached 15.1 million contracts. 

In addition, securities market turnover value on SGX Securities increased 6% MoM in September to S$25.8 billion, while securities daily average value (SDAV) was up 6% MoM at S$1.17 billion. The market turnover value of exchange-traded funds (ETF) rose 25% MoM to S$315 million.
