Demand is also rising from offshore clients seeking diversification. "Singapore is very encouraging at the highest end of the market," said Tommy Leung of HSBC Private Bank, noting its role in portfolio diversification for entrepreneurs.While Hong Kong remains a primary entry point, Singapore gains appeal as wealth grows. "Singapore is the obvious choice within Asia for cultural and business reasons," Leung added, attracting entrepreneurs advanced in wealth planning.Entrepreneurs, constituting about two-thirds of clients for some banks, are driving long-term legacy planning. "Singapore's international platform and depth of expertise make it a natural hub for that next chapter," Leung observed.Data shows private banking client assets surged nearly 20% in 2024, half from net new inflows. BCG projects Singapore will be the fastest-growing wealth management hub globally over the next four years.Client expectations are shifting. "There is a notable shift away from traditional private banks, as clients increasingly prioritise independence, fee transparency and conflict-free advice," noted Nithi Genesan of Waystone.Nevertheless, Singapore's appeal remains strong. "Singapore has cemented its position as a global wealth management hub by cultivating a uniquely secure and dynamic environment for international capital," said Lillian Liao of Citi Private Bank. She cited geopolitical stability, strong rule of law, and robust regulation as key factors.Policymakers have balanced stringent governance with an open approach. "More than just a booking centre, Singapore channels international capital into the real economy," Liao stated, adding it serves as a gateway for ASEAN investment.A supporting global talent ecosystem and high quality of life further enhance its attractiveness, transforming Singapore from an asset haven to a permanent home for families. "This migration of not just wealth but of families further anchors assets," Liao said.The client base is diverse but globally oriented, spanning multiple jurisdictions and asset classes. It blends established family wealth with first-generation entrepreneurial fortunes. "They represent a unique blend of old money and new wealth," Liao noted.This convergence of capital, talent, and clientele establishes Singapore as a global wealth nexus. A rising trend of permanent relocation is reflected in lifestyle and asset ownership shifts, such as increased activity in Singapore's prestige property market by new immigrants and global wealth.
