SIX and Korea Securities Depository to Collaborate in Area of Securities Depository and Settlement

SIX, the Swiss Financial Market Infrastructure Group, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Korea Securities Depository (KSD) to collaborate in the area of securities depository and settlement. The cooperation will be facilitated through SIX's subsidiary, SIX SIS.

According to SIX's announcement, the scope of this mutual collaboration includes mutual support for investment in the Korean and Swiss markets, as well as the exchange of information on operational and market matters, and identification of improvement opportunities. The partnership also envisions a closer working relationship in the future, regular meetings, and the maintenance of communication channels for the exchange of information.

Javier Hernani, Head Securities Services and Executive Board Member at SIX, stated: “The agreement is another step forward in expanding our reach in Asia, where we see business opportunities, explore new markets, and establish new relations. Given our strong position in the global post-trade value chain, we believe that this new partnership will boost the joint value and growth potential.”

This partnership follows SIX's recent cooperative agreement with Dubai Financial Market (DFM)​, a publicly traded company based in the United Arab Emirates. The aim of the agreement with DFM is to evaluate and implement potential opportunities for dual/cross-listing of products, facilitating share fungibility and cross-border transfers.
