SIX Digital Exchange Granted Regulatory Approval by FINMA

SIX Digital Exchange (SDX), part of SIX Group and the world’s first regulated digital market infrastructure, announced today that it has secured the regulatory approval from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA), to operate a stock exchange and a central securities depository for digital assets in Switzerland.
According to the announcement, the authorization enables SDX to go live with a fully regulated, integrated trading, settlement, and custody infrastructure based on distributed ledger technology for digital securities. With these licenses, the exchange can now deliver the highest Swiss standards of oversight and regulation.
“This is an important milestone in bringing the digitalization of capital markets into the mainstream, but it is only the beginning. We will continue to work with our clients, regulators, and other stakeholders to shape the markets of the future, ” said Thomas Zeeb, Global Head, Exchanges & Member Executive Board, SIX.
Over the coming months and years, SDX will continue to invest in building out the digital financial ecosystem to create a global liquidity network for digital assets by engaging in cooperative ventures with partners and accelerating the onboarding of various global and local financial players.
