SIX Group Publishes Key Figures of SIX Swiss Exchange and BME Exchange for August 2023

SIX Group, a leading financial firm that operates the infrastructure for the Swiss financial centre, has published the monthly key figures of SIX Swiss Exchange and BME Exchange on trading and listing activities in Switzerland and Spain for August 2023.

The combined turnover of the two exchanges totaled CHF 99,39 billion for the month, a decrease of 5.6% on a monthly basis and a decrease of 3.3% on a yearly basis. The number of transactions reached 5,185,025, a decrease of 4.1% on a monthly basis and a decrease of 18.1% on a yearly basis.

Key Figures SIX Swiss Exchange

• Trading turnover of SIX Swiss Exchange for August 2023 was CHF 70.92 billion, 6.7% higher than CHF 66.46 billion in the prior month. The number of transaction rose by 0.2% from 3,232,611 in July 2023 to 3,238,589 transactions.

• Trading turnover of Equities was CHF 55.92 billion (6.7% MoM / -4.2% YoY), while the number of transactions was 3,045,025 (0.2% MoM / -21.1% YoY).

• Trading turnover of Fixed Income was CHF 8.77 billion (-6.8% MoM / -27.0% YoY), while the number of transactions was 30,204 (-8.6% MoM / 31.1% YoY).

• Trading turnover of ETF was CHF 5.66 billion (36.5% MoM / -22.0% YoY), while the number of transactions was 130,980 (-0.5% MoM / 16.7% YoY).

• Trading turnover of Securitized Derivatives was CHF 576 million (9.7% MoM / -16.3% YoY), while the number of transactions was 32,380 (9.8% MoM / -7.3% YoY).

• The SMI® stood at 11,126.0 points at the end of August 2023, 1.6% lower than 11,309.3 points in the prior month.

Key Figures of BME Exchange

• Trading volume of the Spanish exchange for August 2023 amounted to EUR 29.75 billion, 26.3% lower than EUR 40.38 billion in the prior month. The number of transactions totaled 1,946,436, down 10.6% compared to 2,176,075 in July 2023.

• Trading turnover of Equities was EUR 19.15 billion (-14.8% MoM / 1.1% YoY), while the number of transactions was 1,933,057 (-10.6% MoM / -15.6% YoY).

• Trading turnover of Fixed Income was EUR 10.44 billion (-41.2% MoM / 58.8% YoY), while the number of transactions was 1,841 (-35.1% MoM / 54.3% YoY).

• Trading turnover of ETF was EUR 118 million (14.3% MoM / 30.1% YoY), while the number of transactions was 7,167 (1.9% MoM / 29.2% YoY).

• Trading turnover of Securitized Derivatives was EUR 41 million (12.3% MoM / -14.7% YoY), while the number of transactions was 4,371 (5.0% MoM / -13.6% YoY).

• The IBEX 35 stood at 9,505.9 points at the end of August, 1.4% less than 9,641.5 points in the prior month.
