SIX Group Releases Key Figures of SIX Swiss Exchange and BME Exchange for October 2023

​SIX Group, a leading financial firm that operates the infrastructure for the Swiss financial centre, has published the monthly key figures of SIX Swiss Exchange and BME Exchange on trading and listing activities in Switzerland and Spain for October 2023.

The combined turnover of the two exchanges totaled CHF 125.13 billion for the month, an increase of 8.1% on a monthly basis and an increase of 11.3% on a yearly basis. The number of transactions reached 6,549,025, an increase of 20.3% on a monthly basis and a decrease of 6.7% on a yearly basis.

Key Figures of SIX Swiss Exchange

• Trading turnover of SIX Swiss Exchange for the month was CHF 85.16 billion, 6.9% higher than CHF 79.68 billion in the prior month. The number of transaction rose by 18.9% from 3,372,005 in September 2023 to 4,009,253.

• Trading turnover of Equities was CHF 67.25 billion (4.5% MoM / 9.7% YoY), while the number of transactions was 3,785,682 (19.0% MoM / -16.3% YoY).

• Trading turnover of Fixed Income was CHF 12.27 billion (19.3% MoM / -8.8% YoY), while the number of transactions was 36,849 (15.9% MoM / 11.4% YoY).

• Trading turnover of ETF was CHF 5.07 billion (14.1% MoM / 36.2% YoY), while the number of transactions was 154,707 (19.1% MoM / 26.2% YoY).

• Trading turnover of Securitized Derivatives was CHF 574 million (-4.8% MoM / -30.8% YoY), while the number of transactions was 32,015 (8.3% MoM / -12.6% YoY).

• The SMI® stood at 10,391.2 points at the end of October, 5.2% lower than 10,963.5 points in the prior month.

Key Figures of BME Exchange

• Trading volume of the Spanish exchange for October 2023 amounted to EUR 41.63 billion, 11.5% higher than EUR 37.34 billion in September 2023. The number of transactions totaled 2,539,772, up 22.6% compared to 2,071,235 in the prior month.

• Trading turnover of Equities was EUR 26.62 billion (30.5% MoM / 11.8% YoY), while the number of transactions was 2,524,487 (22.7% MoM / -6.7% YoY).

• Trading turnover of Fixed Income was EUR 14.85 billion (-11.5% MoM / 41.4% YoY), while the number of transactions was 2,646 (-2.0% MoM / 47.6% YoY).

• Trading turnover of ETF was EUR 120 million (-13.9% MoM / 17.6% YoY), while the number of transactions was 7,880 (3.8% MoM / 1.4% YoY).

• Trading turnover of Securitized Derivatives was EUR 34 million (4.9% MoM / -46.9% YoY), while the number of transactions was 4,759 (-0.2% MoM / -19.0% YoY).

• The IBEX 35 stood at 9,017.3 points at the end of October, 4.4% less than 9,428.0 points in the prior month.
