SIX Launched ESG Indices in Response to Investors' Demand

SIX recently announced that it has launched new ESG indices in the Swiss equity and bond markets to incorporate companies with an ESG Impact Rating of at least a C+.
Now, SIX offers two SPI ESG indices for equities based on the Swiss Performance Index (SPI) with 20 new SBI ESG indices available, all based on the Swiss Bond Index (SBI).
The SEG indices also require companies to limit their revenues from certain critical sectors (adult entertainment, alcohol, armaments, gambling, genetic engineering, etc.) to a range of no more than 5%. Futher more, index candidates should not be included the exclusion list made by the Swiss Association for Responsible Investments.
Marion Leslie, Head Financial Information and member of SIX Executive Board, highlighted: "SIX is introducing ESG indices with broad coverage of Swiss equities and bonds for the first time. In doing so, we are creating new opportunities for investors to target their investments with sustainable criteria. This is in line with our strategy to consistently evolve our data offering to provide solutions for future market needs."
SIX has collected data from Inrate, an independent Swiss sustainability rating agency to measure the performance of a company in assuming its own environmental and social responsibilities.
