SIX Swiss Exchange Reports 21% Drop in Trading Turnover in July

The Swiss Stock Exchange (SIX), Europe's 3rd biggest stock exchange, has reported its trading figures for July 2022, showing a drop in its total trading turnover on a MoM basis.
According to the official announcement, trading turnover in July came in at CHF 77.2 billion, 21.0% lower than the previous month's CHF 97.8 billion. The number of transactions dropped from June's 4,919,123 to 4,124,210, revealing a 16.2% MoM decline.
Since the beginning of 2022, trading turnover reached CHF 783.0 billion, while the number of transactions increased by 0.8% to a total of 38,528,834.
The exchange's highest turnover on a single trading day was recorded on 29 July, which saw securities worth a total volume of CHF 5.1 billion changing hands. The highest number of trades was recorded on 6 July, with 225,821.
The stock that generated the highest turnover during the reporting month was NESTLE N with CHF 6.8 billion; NOVARTIS N was the most traded stock with 225,307 transactions.
In July, products with crypto currencies as underlyings reached a trading turnover of CHF 100.9 million. In total, 186 products were traded and 8,286 transactions concluded.
As Fazzaco reported earlier, SIX officially launched the Swiss GDR-leg of the China-Switzerland Stock Connect with the participation of senior government representatives from China and Switzerland. Since signing the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in 2019, SIX has been working closely with the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges to establish a Stock Connect offering that is equally accessible for Chinese and Swiss market participants.
