Sonic Labs Names Mitchell Demeter as CEO to Drive Institutional Expansion

Sonic Labs, developer of the Sonic blockchain network, has appointed Mitchell Demeter as its new Chief Executive Officer. Demeter, an early figure in digital assets and an experienced entrepreneur, is tasked with expanding Sonic's presence among developers, institutions, and capital markets worldwide.
Launched in December 2024, Sonic has positioned itself as a high-performance blockchain, with claims of processing up to 400,000 transactions per second and confirmation times under one second. Recent milestones include the listing of Sonic's native token on Coinbase, the issuance of USDC on the network, and integration with Chainlink's interoperability protocol.
Despite these technical achievements, the company acknowledges it needs stronger institutional support to progress further. Demeter's mandate includes building relationships with U.S. and global investors, expanding ecosystem adoption, and recruiting leaders with expertise across finance and crypto.
Industry forecasts suggest that as much as 10% of global GDP could shift onto blockchain infrastructure within the next decade, creating a potential $10 trillion market. Demeter said Sonic is positioning itself to be part of that growth: "Sonic's technology is unmatched in speed and scalability, and our mission is to bring that performance directly into institutional finance and global markets."
Michael Kong, who has guided Sonic Labs since its Fantom origins, will remain on the board and serve as Chief Information Officer. He described Demeter's appointment as timely, highlighting his "extensive network and trusted relationships" as key to advancing partnerships and real-world applications.
