Standard Chartered Appointed as Custodian for TP ICAP's Digital Assets Unit

Standard Chartered has been appointed as the digital asset custodian and settlement agent for TP ICAP's Fusion Digital Assets platform. The arrangement will support the global markets infrastructure provider as it expands its matched principal trading activities. This move builds upon a partnership initially announced in October 2024. Shared clients will gain access to Standard Chartered's custody solution and TP ICAP's UK-based spot crypto exchange, Fusion Digital Assets. The exchange is operated by TP ICAP E&C Limited, which is registered with the UK's Financial Conduct Authority.
Margaret Harwood-Jones, Global Head of Financing & Securities Services at Standard Chartered, stated the collaboration reinforces a shared vision of bridging traditional and digital finance. She said the bank's solutions will enable TP ICAP to scale its matched principal activity securely to meet institutional demand. Duncan Trenholme, Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Digital Assets at TP ICAP, described the partnership as a key milestone. He said it allows TP ICAP to settle blockchain-based assets through its own accounts for the first time, enabling a broader array of on-chain assets and execution services for clients. The partnership aims to advance institutional adoption of digital assets by combining TP ICAP's market infrastructure with Standard Chartered's regulated capabilities.
