The transaction brings together a global asset manager with more than $5.5 trillion in assets under management and one of India’s fastest-growing digital investment platforms. It reflects rising interest among international firms in India’s expanding retail investor base and long-term wealth growth potential.

State Street said the investment aligns with its strategy to broaden access to investing and to develop Indian-focused investment strategies for global clients.

“India stands out as a market of immense opportunity,” said Yie-Hsin Hung, Chief Executive Officer of State Street Investment Management, citing demographic trends and growing adoption of digital investment products. She said the partnership would allow State Street to participate directly in the growth of India’s domestic asset management industry and to build a pipeline of Indian investment exposures for international distribution.

Groww AMC is the asset management arm of Groww, a digital investment platform that offers app-based access to mutual funds, equities and other financial products to retail investors. The company said State Street’s involvement would support the development of more advanced investment offerings.

Harsh Jain, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Groww, said the partnership would bring global asset management expertise and best practices to the Indian market, alongside capital support.

The investment forms part of State Street’s broader approach of working with local platforms to expand its reach in high-growth markets. The firm has pursued similar equity investments and product collaborations globally to combine its scale and product capabilities with local distribution networks.

As competition intensifies among digital investment platforms in India, the partnership highlights a broader trend of global asset managers aligning with domestic fintech firms to access new investor segments and support product innovation.
