Stephen Grainger Rejoins Swift as Americas and UK CEO

Financial messaging system SWIFT has rehired Stephen Grainger from Mastercard as its Chief Executive Officer for the Americas and UK region.
Stephen most recently served Mastercard as Executive Vice President for more than four years and led the firm's cross-border business. Previously, between September 2015 and June 2018, he was at Swift, first working as Head of Banking, Payments and Vendors, UK, then rising to become Managing Director, Market Infrastructure and Experts, Americas & UK, and Managing Director, Head of North America eventually. Prior to that, he has spent more than five years at Goldman Sachs, with senior roles including Global Head of Market Infrastructure, Global Head of Bank Relations.
Stephen started his career at Euroclear as Business Development Manager/Product Manager in 2000. In 2005, he moved to Citi and then Merrill Lynch after two years.

This appointment come after the retirement of Yawar Shah, Chair of the Swift Board of Directors, last month.
