StoneX Acquires Wholesale Banknote Firm WCSI

StoneX Group Inc. has announced the acquisition of UK-based wholesale banknotes trading and distribution business WCS International Ltd. The deal was executed through StoneX's wholly owned subsidiary, StoneX Financial Ltd.

The acquisition is intended to enhance StoneX's offerings to financial institutions by adding complementary capabilities to its existing cross-border payments operations. WCSI, founded in 2022, provides wholesale banknote services to banks and other institutions.

Thiago Vieira, Global Head of StoneX Payments, stated the move strengthens the firm's financial institution ecosystem and leverages its global metals and logistics operations. He said the combination positions StoneX as a global non-bank provider of banknotes, payments, and foreign exchange.

WCSI CEO Angela Smith noted that joining StoneX provides the balance sheet strength and global reach necessary to accelerate growth, allowing her firm's expertise to be integrated into a broader financial services platform.
