StoneX Group Announces Major Expansion in Birmingham, Alabama

StoneX Group Inc. (NASDAQ: SNEX), the parent company of retail FX brands FOREX.com and City Index, has announced a significant expansion of its operations in Birmingham, Alabama. The firm’s Birmingham office functions as a critical hub, supporting securities clearing and core operational infrastructure for its global platform.

"Birmingham has long been a meaningful part of our operational footprint," said Maribeth Williams, Head of Securities Operations at StoneX. The city's financial heritage and talent pool were cited as key reasons for scaling operations there.

The company’s history in Birmingham spans over 25 years, building upon the legacy of broker-dealer Sterne Agee. Local officials welcomed the move, with Jefferson County Commissioner Mike Bolin calling it an "important inflection point" that signals renewed growth for the regional financial sector.

The new 46,000-square-foot office in the Protective Center will feature modern amenities and is planned to accommodate approximately 90 new hires over the next several years. Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair stated the expansion reinforces the city's standing as a competitive location for financial services.
