The newly launched lending capability enables professional traders and institutional investors to access liquidity without liquidating their cryptocurrency holdings. The move enhances StoneX Digital’s existing brokerage and financing infrastructure, reflecting the continued convergence of traditional financial markets and digital assets.

Broadening Institutional Crypto Services

With the addition of digital asset lending, StoneX Digital continues positioning itself as a bridge between conventional financial systems and the rapidly growing crypto ecosystem. The firm already provides institutional clients with access to spot crypto trading, digital asset-linked exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and futures products within its established regulatory and operational framework.

According to the company, the new lending solution responds to increasing demand from institutional market participants seeking financing tools that integrate digital assets into broader portfolio and risk management strategies.

Brian Mulcahy, CEO of StoneX Digital, stated that clients are looking for efficient liquidity solutions that allow them to maintain exposure to digital assets while optimizing capital usage. He added that the lending program builds on StoneX’s established brokerage, custody, and risk management infrastructure.

Bitcoin as Initial Collateral

Bitcoin will serve as the initial collateral for the lending program, with plans to expand eligibility to additional large-cap cryptocurrencies in line with market demand. The company noted that all lending arrangements will operate under strict collateral management and risk control protocols.

StoneX Digital, launched in June 2022, recently obtained a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) license under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework from the Central Bank of Ireland, enabling it to provide digital asset execution and custody services across the European Union under the new regulatory regime.

In the retail trading segment, StoneX operates FOREX.com following its acquisition of GAIN Capital. The brand remains a key channel for self-directed traders, offering leveraged forex and CFD products under StoneX’s global regulatory and technology infrastructure.
