Swiss FINMA Grants 950 Licences to Portfolio Managers and Trustees

The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA​ announced recently that it has granted 950 licenses to portfolio managers and trustees, as at 30 June 2023.

According to the official press release, the Swiss financial watchdog has received a total of 1,749 licence applications.

At the 2022 end, , i.e. following expiry of the transitional three-year period, FINMA had received 1,699 licence applications. The regulator has received 50 new applications as at 30 June 2023.

Specifically, out of the 1,699 licence applications received by the end of 2022, 931 institutions (888 portfolio managers, 43 trustees) have been licensed, with 8 institutions licensed as both portfolio managers and trustees.

In addition, 10 institutions out of the 50 licence applications received since the beginning of 2023, have been licensed, with one institution licensed as both portfolio manager and trustee.
