Swiss Fintech Startup Taurus Secures $65 Million in Series B

Taurus, a provider of digital asset infrastructure, has raised $65 million in a Series B fundraising round to further develop its platform and expand internationally.
Credit Suisse led the Series B, which included participation from Deutsche Bank, Pictet Group, Cedar Mundi Ventures, Arab Bank Switzerland, and real estate group Investis.
Taurus' clients include Deutsche Bank, Arab Bank Switzerland, and Pictet. The company claims to collaborate with more than 25 financial institutions and corporate clients, including financial institutions, retail and online banks, private banks, crypto-banks, investment banks, and broker-dealers.
The Swiss-based start-up, founded in 2018, provides digital asset infrastructure that enables firms to issue, hold, and exchange digital assets such as cryptocurrency. It also runs a regulated exchange for private assets and tokenized securities.
Taurus will use the cash to support its growth goal in three areas: recruiting engineers to enhance its platform, extending its sales and customer-facing footprint with offices in Europe, the UAE, the Americas, and Southeast Asia, and strengthening its security, risk, and compliance needs.
Jean-Philippe Aumasson, co-founder and chief security officer (CSO) at Taurus, says the firm is the only company "to have built an end-to-end infrastructure while controlling the full technology stack including blockchain-specific protocols, as well as HSM and MPC technologies".
