The ‘Prof Link’ platform will include licence information for over 80,000 capital markets professionals, incorporating professional development and training.
Thailand’s SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) and SET (Stock Exchange of Thailand) will launch a new centralised platform that will connect the databases for all capital market licencees and digitalise the licensing process.
Set for launch in July, the ‘Professional Link Digital Platform’ – to be known as ‘Prof Link’ – will include information on licences granted to investment consultants, investment planners and investment analysts – over 80,000 capital markets professionals in total.
“The mutual project aims to elevate and enhance efficiency in knowledge development for all professionals in the capital market and build quality personnel to benefit investors and facilitate the industry,” says a SEC-SET joint statement.
Prof Link will also support professional development and training, by linking the licence database with all training institutes for training results reporting.
“This makes it convenient for both the licence holders and their respective employers as it reduces the use of paper, working hours and duplications including the risk of missing the deadline to renew the licenses, as well as supporting SET’s numerous e-Learning courses,” said the stock exchange president Pakorn Peetathawatchai.
The launch of the new platform is in line with the SEC’s Strategic Plan, which aims to promote digital transformation in Thailand’s capital market, said SEC secretary-general Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol.
“This digital approach will bring more convenience to more than 80,000 current professionals and all parties involved, especially investors who can trust that the market professionals improve knowledge and proficiency on a continued basis.”
