Thailand's SEC to Pilot E-Licensing Services for Two Types of Licenses

Thailand's SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) will this month begin offering pilot services on the government's online portal for the submission of applications for two types of licenses:

• Type D securities brokerage and underwriting business license

• private fund management licence

The SEC said it will also develop support for other types of licenses, including digital asset businesses licenses.

Full e-licensing services will launch in Q1 2023, providing services for issuing certificates, licences and other documents electronically, with links to databases operated by other government agencies.

The e-licensing service will improve convenience in the licence application process, reduce costs for business, and promote better environmental stewardship practices, the SEC said.

The initiative is part of a government push to adopt digital systems in its work processes, and leverage technology to reduce the burden for all sectors, the SEC said in a statement.

The announcement came at a signing ceremony of a personal data processing agreement between the SEC, the Ministry of Finance, and the Digital Government Development Agency.
