Tinkoff Investments Enables Clients to Donate Securities As A Gift Online

Tinkoff Investments, the online brokerage portal of Tinkoff that is Russia's largest digital bank, announced recently that it was the first among Russian brokers to provide clients with the opportunity to order securities as a gift completely online -- via Tinkoff Investments app, without the need to sign paper documents or visit the broker's office.
Tinkoff Investments is the second largest retail investment platform in Russia, accounting for approximately 30% of retail investment accounts opened on Moscow Exchange in 2018.
According to the official press release, the new service allows Tinkoff Investments users to make a gift to either another user or a person who does not have an account with the platform, and to donate any financial instruments available to other investors. The addressee will receive an SMS message or a notification in the Tinkoff Investments app. If the recipient is not a Tinkoff client, he will get a notification, as well as a link with an application for opening a brokerage account and debit card.
Besides, clients can donate shares at any time. When shares are bought as a gift on a weekend, calculations are made based on the closing price of the previous trading day. The recipient can refuse the gift. In this case, the funds spent on the purchase of shares are returned to the donor's account.
Tinkoff Investments has now more than 10,000 instruments of various values for any investment purpose. The owner will decide for himself whether to sell his shares or place a bet on their future growth, according to Dmitry Tarasov, Head of Development and Promotion of Investment Services, Tinkoff Investments.
"In today's world, where more and more attention is paid to rational consumption and responsible attitude towards the future, formal gifts and momentary impressions fade into the background, giving way to other values. Tinkoff Investments continues to change the market, opening up new opportunities", he added.
