TMX Group Reports 17% YoY Jump in Average Daily Trading Value for July 2022

TMX Group Limited (TMX), the operator of four marketplaces including Toronto Stock Exchange, TSX Venture Exchange, TSX Alpha Exchange and Montréal Exchange, has announced its aggregated trading statistics for July 2022, showing a monthly drop in its overall trading volumes.

For July 2022, TMX reported an average daily volume (ADV) of 513.5 million contracts for all of its marketplaces, as total volumes decreased to 10.3 billion from last month's 13.6 billion. Across a yearly interval, the total volumes decreased compared to the figures of 10.9 billion for July 2021.

In money terms, the total trading value of contracts for July 2022 averaged $10.5 billion per day, decreased 17.7 percent from $12.7 billion in June 2022. Compared to the $8.9 billion in the same month in 2021, the ADV cash value in July 2022 reflected a jump by 17 percent.

On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, the total turnover through July 2022 came in at 94.1 billion contracts , a decline of 24.4 percent from 124.5 billion in the last year.
