Tokyo Financial Exchange Sees a Fall in FX Futures Contracts in May

Fazzaco learned that Tokyo Financial Exchange (TFX), a Japanese futures exchange, has posted its trading numbers for the month of May.

According to the press release, the total number of FX Daily Futures contracts for the exchange in May fell by 4.6 percent to 1,900,153 compared to the previous month. The average daily volume came in at 90,481.

TFX mentioned in the press release, "The total trading volume of FX Daily Futures contracts (Click 365) was 1,900,153 ( -4.6% MoM / -17.0% YoY ), and its average daily trading volume was 90,481." 

According to the official numbers, in May 2021, the largest drop was recorded in the Turkish Lira -Japanese Yen as a heavy fall of 35.2% was reported in the number of contracts related to the FX pair. The USD/JPY remained the most popular FX pair with the highest trading volume in May 2021. Mexican Peso-Japanese Yen stood at the second spot followed by the South African Rand-Japanese Yen at third place.
