TraderEvolution CEO & Co-founder Roman Nalivayko: Filling the Gap as Market Becomes Increasingly Sophisticated
TraderEvolution is a fintech software company, offering solutions for brokers and banks. It is headquartered in Ireland, while its R&D center is located in Eastern Europe.
Today, Fazzaco is honored to welcome Roman Nalivayko, the CEO and co-founder at TraderEvolution, to sit with us, and share his insightful opinions about the industry.
Fazzaco: Hi Roman, thanks for joining Fazzaco. Could you tell us more about yourself and TraderEvolution?
Roman: TraderEvolution is a financial software development company focused on a trading software solution for brokers and banks. We have founded the company together with Oleksandr Kachur on the basis of our prior experience in the trading industry. We have seen the trading community and brokerage businesses getting more and more sophisticated over recent years, while trading technology was lagging behind, and so we realized that there was a need for a liquidity-neutral specialized multi-market software in the retail trading world.
Fazzaco: Could you introduce your day trading platform and multi-market trading platform? What are the differences? Are they your proprietary technology?
Roman: It is important to understand that our solution is built of certain software modules. Therefore, we may create a few different solutions by simply mixing different modules and fitting them to the exact business case. So, it depends which set of functionalities we put the most focus on. Our day trading solution highlights back-end and front-end tools highly regarded by proprietary traders - there are specialized risk management features and front-end tools for volume and order flow analysis and active trading.
When we look at the multi-market solution, it is focused more on integrations with many different markets, meaning execution venues and market data providers.
Nevertheless, it is not like day traders cannot go multi-market with us or the other way around. It is possible to have an ultimate solution that would satisfy various groups of retail, corporate and professional traders if that is something that your brokerage business aims at.
Fazzaco: What high-level features do your platforms have?
Roman: First and foremost, our software supports all major asset classes such as equities, ETFs, futures, options, FX, CFDs, and fixed income with various nuances of their life cycles. In such an environment, not without meaning is managing market-data entitlements and handling corporate actions.
Also for many brokers, a very important part is usually an integration with the 3rd party services and tools such as TradingView, AutoChartist or TradingCentral. Those are the ones we support already but we could develop almost any other integration upon request.
On the front-end side, we developed plenty of tools for active traders as well as investors and we keep adding new ones upon request. Our clients, the brokers, can provide their clients with front-end functionality for active trading, passive investing, options trading, trading recommendations (financial advisory) and portfolio management. It is worth mentioning that our front ends are designed in a way that is friendly to beginners at first, but they grow with the trader.
Fazzaco: What is your viewpoint on mobile trading software? Do you think it will replace desktop versions?
Roman: We see a very significant group of traders who are willing to use mainly mobile apps for trading, but I can't say that it will replace desktop completely. Perhaps for 99% of retail traders, web and mobile platforms are more than enough. However, professionals still prefer fully-fledged desktop applications.
Fazzaco: What are the difficulties in developing mobile versions?
Roman: At the very beginning of mobile trading, those apps were quite simple, containing quotes, plain charts and basic trading functions. Nowadays, brokers and traders expect more and more functionality in their mobile devices and the trend is to get as close to a rich desktop version as possible. It is a challenge for a few reasons, including design and user experience. It was quite visible when we were implementing fully-fledged options trading and analysis to our mobile app.
Fazzaco: What are your edges over your competitors?
Roman: Our edge is that we do not have direct competitors as we are filling the gap that emerged from the retail trading industry's sophistication that has progressed quickly. At the same time developing such a system which we offer is quite difficult, requires decent expertise of many people as well as plenty of time and resources.
If we talk about remote competitors I think each one has strong and weak points, depending on who is evaluating and what are his requirements. Our prospective clients usually choose between a white label solution from an international broker, a custom-built solution from a software development company and a specialized tailored solution that we offer. All those options come with a different level of control over business, different time to market and a different level of required investment.
Among our advantages, let's just name a certain level of customization which enables us to fit the solution to the exact business needs, additional development that we offer, and capacity to differentiate which makes our clients stand out from their competitors.
The fact that our solution can be fully branded, feeling like your own, and that we also provide continuous support makes it a highly efficient option compared to proprietary development or legacy software.
