Tradeview COO Talks about Boosting Traders with Proprietary Technology
Tradeview Markets provides traders with multi-asset brokerage. It has a social network of 30 million traders and investors around the world.
Today, we have the honor to invite Ben Sadgrove, the COO at Tradeview to join Fazzaco, to talk about how they boost traders with their technologies.
Fazzaco: Thank you for joining Fazzaco today. Let us know more about Tradeview.
Ben: Tradeview Markets, was established by our CEO, Tim Furey in 2004, as a multi-asset brokerage for retail and institutional traders. Tradeview offers various asset classes such as foreign exchange (Forex), stocks, and contracts for difference (CFDs) on currencies, stocks, futures, indices, energy markets, and precious metals. With offices and representatives on six continents we serve clients all around the world through our proprietary and third-party software. Tradeview prides itself on providing exceptional customers service and leading-edge technology such as our Innovative Liquidity Connector.
Fazzaco: We have learned that Tradeview has become the silver sponsor of BrokersShow. What motivated you to participate in this virtual expo?
Ben: The Asian and Malaysian markets in particular our important areas of focus for Tradeview Markets, in earlier years a marquee event such as the BrokersShow would have seen a team from Tradeview attending in person. Now as we deal with Covid-19 and the complications that causes for business travel and in-person events, sponsoring a virtual show is a natural response to maintain and increase our connections with clients and other professionals in the industry. At a very basic level humans are social and have a strong desire to connect with others in person. Virtual events such as BrokersShow allow firms like Tradeview to continue to build the relationships that are needed for success.
Fazzaco: In your opinion, what are the advantages of virtual expo? Will it become premium choice for brokerage companies to marketing in the context of COVID-19?
Ben: A virtual expo extends the reach of brokerage companies. In the pre-Covid-19 world companies were more limited in the number of events that they could attend and how involved they could be with each event. While we will still tailor our participation at expos in terms of the Tradeview staff in attendance and the messaging needed for each region and market, we have found virtual shows to be highly effective just in a different way from the traditional in-person shows. As we hopefully move into a more post-Covid-19 framework in the next year or so we expect that expos will incorporate both new virtual elements and some of the old traditional show elements into a new hybrid model.
Fazzaco: Tradeview provides services to clients through third-party software, like MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader and CurreneX. Which one is the most popular among your clients based on your statistics?
Ben: Tradeview does offer trading through third-party platforms such as MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader and CurreneX. We find each of these is attractive to certain groups of clients. Overall MetaTrader 4 remains the most popular which we think is due to the level of comfort that a large number of traders have developed with the system. That being said we are seeing more and more traders migrating to MetaTrader 5, especially traders who want to access real U.S. stocks through Tradeview’s proprietary middleware system. Not all brokers have made this type of investment and therefore are limited to accessing stocks through CFDs.
Fazzaco: In your opinion, what essential factors should be considered when choosing a trading software?
Ben: Choosing a software platform ends up being a matter of personal preference and access to learning and support. All of the platforms we offer at Tradeview are very, very good at this point as they have been in the market for extended periods of time. Someone choosing a platform should try a number free demo accounts to see which platforms are best for them and should also look at the support or training they can access either in-person or online to help them become better traders.
Fazzaco: Tradeview also has your own proprietary software, what motivated you to develop your own platform?
Ben: At Tradeview we have mainly added elements to existing third-party platforms rather than developing a totally new system ourselves. This allows us to offer enhancements such as real U.S. equities to our MetaTrader 5 platform or our copy trading software and other modules to allow clients to build and test trade ideas.
Fazzaco: What are the features of the proprietary elements added to the existing platforms?
Ben: Some of the proprietary features we have created for clients include the ability to trade real on-exchange U.S. equites using the MetaTrader 5 platform or our CommuniTraders copy trading software that lets clients either become signal providers or followers in a social trading environment. Tradeview has also provided sponsorship for a Trading Community called TradeGATEHub (www.tradegatehub.com) which provides access to an incredible source for news, analysis and provides the ability to interact with other traders in real-time. At this point some of the best traders I the world are part of TradeGATEHub and it is a real advantage for those who join.
Fazzaco: You have opened an office in Labuan, Malaysia. Are there are any particular business or market advantages in the region that benefit Tradeview?
Ben: Having an office in Labuan helps us to provide even better levels of service to our clients. We already had staff and representatives working across Asia and on Asia time zones but having a physical office in Labuan has helped to coordinate and support our efforts in the region. There is also a level of comfort that it provides to clients in the local market. We have staff that speak dozens of languages and we try to locate close to as many clients as we can. As travel restrictions are starting to be reduced the Tradeview team will be able to get back to more normal travel and meeting schedules and our office in Malaysia provides a great base to work from.
Fazzaco: Do you have plans to expand into any new jurisdictions? What region looks the most promising for you?
Ben: We recently opened an office in Malta to better serve our clients in Europe and are currently working on establishing an office in London. Looking ahead Tradeview is always looking for ways to provide better service to our clients, whether that is with new virtual tools or traditional methods such as having an office and staff located in a region. The Asian market is a key area of focus for Tradeview particularly the ASEAN countries as this region has a very bright future and we want to be here on the ground to build relationships and provide the best client support possible.
