Tradeweb Markets Achieves Record Trading Volumes in September

Tradeweb Markets, a leading operator in electronic marketplaces, posted record trading volumes for September 2024, achieving $56.1 trillion in total trading volume and an average daily volume (ADV) of $2.63 trillion. This marked a significant 68.3% year-over-year (YoY) increase. The strong performance was driven by growth across multiple asset classes, with the rates segment and credit trading volumes standing out.
Notably, US government bond ADV surged by 59.8% YoY to $232.2 billion, while European government bonds saw a 16.7% YoY rise, driven by increased UK Gilt activity. The rates derivatives category also experienced strong growth, with swaps/swaptions ADV growing by 73.1% YoY to $576.3 billion.
In addition to strong rates growth, the credit segment showed remarkable progress, with US credit ADV rising 77% YoY and European credit ADV increasing by 27.9%. The growth was supported by wider adoption of the request-for-quote model and heightened portfolio trading activity. Overall, the company's performance in the third quarter signals robust trading activity across various markets.
