TradingView Rolls out New Version of Lightweight Charts

TradingView, a top-rated charting application used by millions of traders worldwide, announced recently the launch of version 3.7 of Lightweight Charts, an open-source charting library.
TradingView released about 2 years ago the first instrument of these series, which was the smallest financial charting package (43kb) ever.
According to the official press release, the core updates are as follows:
Improved performance of setting/updating series data
The new version is faster than v3.6 by 25%, and the overall improvement in comparison to v3.0 is 60%. Besides, the company improved an updated series when the tool has lots of markers, which means that the chart remains responsive while recalculating thousands of markers in the firm’s tests.
New baseline series type
Users can now fill the area from the maximum to the minimum value.
Added methods to get time axis size and subscribe on size change
Now users are able to accurately position custom controls over the chart, as the company has added additional methods to timeline API to get the size of the timeline axis and subscribe to change it.
Add JSDoc comments for existing API docs
TradingView tries to provide extensive documentation for each product to make integrating the library even easier and faster.
On top of that, core fixes to the library have been made:
Increased min price tick mark step up to 1e-14
With this improvement, values on the price axis won’t disappear in case of small min movement value (less than 0.000000001).
Do not paint time axis if it not visible
Previously, the library could do unnecessary work to resize and paint the time axis widget when it was invisible. Now, if users hide the time axis, it will not resize/draw internally so their charts will work a bit faster.
Last month, Fazzaco reported that TradingView has raised $298 million in a private offering, boosting its valuation to $3 billion.
