Responsibilities
Actively participate in the Institution's efforts of maintaining a strong Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) framework;
To support the Head of Compliance & MLRO in the daily Financial Crime Compliance activities. These include ensuring the appropriate AML/CTF Risk Culture is implemented across the Institution to fulfill its Compliance and AML/CTF functions across all of its activities;
Assist the MLRO in overseeing and managing the Company's Financial Crime Compliance framework in line with FIAU Implementing Procedures, MFSA regulations and industry best practice;
Guiding the Operations department in relation to the due diligence processes for both B2C and B2B customers;
Ensure the Company's AML/CTF, Sanctions and Fraud policies, procedures and controls are effective and up-to-date, and that staff are trained to identify and report suspicious activity;
Support the Head of Compliance and MLRO in maintaining a comprehensive Jurisdiction Risk Assessment (JRA) and business risk assessment (BRA) for the institution across its various activities;
Reviewing of alerts generated during Client Screening & Transaction Monitoring activities undertaken by the Institution;
Assisting in conducting client file reviews;
Escalate suspicious activity and/or transactions to the MLRO;
Act as an internal subject matter expert and provide effective guidance to the business on compliance issues, ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards;
Provide support to ensure that the Company's systems and controls are effective in preventing and detecting financial crime, including fraud and bribery;
Being actively involved in the Due Diligence activities performed by the Institution during client onboarding (B2B and B2C customers);
Participate in meetings and provide all the information necessary for decisions to be taken on whether to onboard or retain clients;
Maintain the Institution's transaction monitoring regime and assist the Head of Compliance and MLRO in the monitoring of client activity as part of the transaction monitoring process; and
Assist in the preparation and delivery of AML/CTF related training provided to staff and Board members.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role within the financial services industry;
A Higher Education Qualification in Finance, Banking or in a relevant field;
ACAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certification, or an equivalent certification, is considered to be an asset;
Understanding of different payment methods and mechanisms (ex: Bank transfers, Card payments; PISP, APM; etc ).
Good knowledge of the fundamental AML/CTF and sanctions legislation, including detailed knowledge and understanding the FIAU's Implementing Procedures;
Working knowledge of CDD requirements for different types of client onboarding;
Experience in undertaking onsite inspections/audits etc will be considered to be an asset;
Attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, and possesses strong interpersonal skills;

Help ensure that all staff are aware of their responsibilities under the company's compliance framework by assisting in compliance training sessions and maintaining records of training completion.
Requirements:
