Trump Meets Crypto.com CEO to Discuss Cryptocurrency Industry Policies

On December 16, United States President-elect Donald Trump hosted Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek at his Mar-a-Lago residence for a meeting focused on potential policies impacting the cryptocurrency industry. The discussions included Trump's proposals for a national Bitcoin reserve, as well as appointments related to cryptocurrency regulation within the incoming administration.

In a post shared on X, Marszalek confirmed the meeting and its focus on shaping future cryptocurrency policy. The timing of the meeting coincided with Crypto.com's decision to drop its lawsuit against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The exchange had previously filed a suit in response to a Wells notice, a warning from the SEC about potential enforcement action against the company. However, Crypto.com chose to withdraw the lawsuit, signaling its intention to engage with the incoming administration on establishing a regulatory framework for the crypto sector.

A spokesperson from Crypto.com explained the withdrawal of the lawsuit, stating, "Given [our] intent to work with the incoming administration on a regulatory framework for the industry, we decided to dismiss the suit with prejudice." This move signals a shift in approach for Crypto.com as it seeks collaboration with U.S. lawmakers on future cryptocurrency regulations.
