UBP Appoints Jamian Lai as Market Head for Philippines
Union Bancaire Privée (UBP) has named Jamian Lai as the new Market Head for the Philippines, effective from 13 January 2025. Operating from Hong Kong, Lai will report directly to Ricardo Choi, UBP's Head of Philippines.
Lai brings nearly three decades of experience in private banking and investment management to his new role. His career has been marked by significant expertise in serving Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals (UHNWIs) and fostering growth in key Asian markets. The Philippines, a focal point of UBP's strategy for expansion across Asia, will benefit from Lai’s deep understanding of the region.
Before joining UBP, Lai held the role of Venture Partner and Head of Investor Relations at Headline Asia, a leading venture capital firm. He was instrumental in driving fundraising efforts and establishing relationships with institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, and high-net-worth families. His expertise extends across various financial sectors, having worked in private banking roles at UBS, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, and Standard Chartered, with additional experience in private equity at Synergy Capital Advisors.
Lai’s track record also includes leadership of market teams for Hong Kong and the Philippines at UBS, where he built and led a high-performing team. His extensive experience across multiple financial institutions positions him as a key figure for UBP’s continued growth in the Philippines and broader Asian markets.
This move aligns with UBP’s broader ambition to strengthen its presence in Asia and tap into the growing demand for wealth management services in the region.
