UK Broker Trading 212 Targeted in a DDoS Attack
Trading 212, a London based fintech company and an online CFD and FX broker, said on Twitter at 2:11 a.m. UK time on 4 November 2020 that its platform was targeted in a DDoS attack (distributed denial-of-service attack), which managed to briefly take the system down.
The UK broker has worked enough hard to resolve the service disruptions immediately after the attack happened and announced at 4:40 a.m. that the downtime has been resolved. However, as of around 4:00 p.m. yesterday, there were still clients of the brokerage complaining about access failure on their ends.
In its notice, Trading 212 explained to its clients that a DDoS attack won't impact clients' shares or account information, it just causes problems logging into accounts. All of clients' assets & personal information are safe.
The company further added that during this event, only the access to its site and the login on the platform were affected whilst orders were executed accordingly.
