Valutrades' 2023 Report Shows A Stark 77% Plummet

Valutrades, a UK-based FX and CFDs broker regulated by the FCA, has reported a significant downturn in its financial performance for 2023. The broker's revenues dropped dramatically by 77%, from £6.5 million in 2022 to just £1.5 million in 2023, leading to a substantial loss of £3.8 million, compared to a profit of £735,000 the previous year. This decline has severely impacted the company's shareholders' equity, which fell from £4.7 million to £1.7 million by the end of 2023.
The downturn in revenue and profitability is attributed to a combination of factors, including reduced market volatility, which negatively affected Valutrades' trade internalization, and a shift by clients toward more attractive investment products such as equities. Valutrades described 2023 as a "challenging year," noting that the performance difficulties were exacerbated by a year-long project to upgrade the company's core client area technologies. While the upgrade was only completed in December, initial feedback has been positive, and the improvements are expected to support future developments, including the launch of a new mobile app in 2024.
Despite the challenges, Valutrades remains committed to its long-term growth strategy, which has been in place since 2016. The firm plans to continue investing in technology, staff, and business relationships to enhance profitability in the coming years. Shareholders have expressed their support for the company's direction, showing confidence in its plans for 2024 and beyond. Valutrades CEO Graeme Watkins, who has led the company since 2015, will continue to steer the firm through these difficult times, supported by the backing of Indonesian investors Aman Lakhiani and Anil Bahirwani.
