Wise CFO Matthew Briers to Resign in 2024

Matthew Briers has decided to resign from the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the global payment technology company Wise by March 2024. Matthew has been in this role since September 2015, based on his LinkedIn profile.
Matthew explained that he made this decision becuase of a quite horrible bus accident a year ago. Currently, his focus will shift to making a full recovery.
"After almost eight years it’s time for me to think about my life after Wise," said Matthew. "I'm incredibly proud of what we have achieved in these early chapters at Wise and could not be more excited about what is ahead for the business. Wise has been the most exhilarating and worthwhile experience of my working life."
He will remain with the role into the the new year to support an orderly transition.
Kristo Käärmann, Wise CEO, stated, "Matt joined us at the time when only around 500,000 people had used Wise and we were losing money. He helped us scale up into a global service that today 16 million people and businesses around the world know they can count on.
I will always be grateful that Matt decided to jump on and build this rocket ship with us. His contributions will continue to shape Wise for years to come. Matt and I will be working closely through this period with other leaders at Wise to support the transition".
Prior to Wise, Matthew has spent three years at Google as Head of Sales Finance, UK. Between February 2009 and August 2012, he was at Lloyds Banking Group as Head of Strategy, Asset Finance.
Besides, Matthew has served consultancy Bain & Company for around four years as Manager, and L.E.K. Consulting as Associate Consultant for over three years. From September 2002 to March 2005, he worked at Capital One, an American bank holding company, as Senior Business Analyst.
