Worldline payment handler for Universal Commerce Protocol enabling AI-driven commerce

Payment services provider Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) has launched a payment handler for the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), an open standard for agentic commerce co-developed by Google and industry partners. The company said it is among the first in Europe to do so.

The integration allows merchants to accept AI-initiated purchases across multiple platforms with a unified setup. UCP provides a common language that enables AI agents to discover products and execute purchases directly.

Worldline's new capability lets merchants declare their payment configuration once and accept card payments, mobile wallets, and European payment methods across any UCP-connected AI platform. The payment handler is available with Worldline's cross-border payment platform Global Collect.

Stijn Gasthuys, Head of Global Commerce & CEO of Global Collect (Worldline Group), said that as AI plays a bigger role in how consumers discover and buy products, merchants are looking for ways to capture these opportunities without adding complexity. He added that Worldline's role is to make that possible through payment capabilities merchants already know and trust.

Gertjan Dewaele, VP Product & Technology at Worldline Global Commerce, commented that the Worldline Global Collect Payment Handler is a universal adaptor on UCP that securely bridges agentic commerce platforms and merchant backends, enabling merchants to prepare for agentic commerce and scale across multiple platforms.
