Worldpay Expands Domestic Acquiring Capabilities to Colombia

Worldpay announced on Wednesday that it has expanded its domestic acquiring capabilities into Colombia, marking a further strengthening of its presence in Latin America. This strategic move aims to enable local merchants in Colombia to connect with global markets.
The payments technology provider already holds operations in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. With Colombia now integrated into its regional footprint, Worldpay stated its objective is to support both local businesses seeking international growth and global brands looking to target Colombian consumers. Gabriel de Montessus, group president of global enterprise at Worldpay, highlighted the market's potential, stating, "Colombia has one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets in Latin America. It presents significant opportunities for local businesses to expand, as well as for international brands to serve Colombian consumers."
In Colombia, Worldpay will offer a range of services, including e-commerce payment technology, multi-layered fraud protection, 3D secure authentication, settlement, dispute management, and data insights. The company has also established a local team in the country to assist merchants in tailoring payment strategies based on regional preferences and data-driven insights. "Our ambition is to be the payments partner these businesses need in order to power their growth," Montessus added. This expansion into Colombia follows Worldpay's recent entry into Mexico and aligns with its broader strategy to grow its domestic acquiring capabilities worldwide. The company now supports in-country and international processing across 69 global markets.
