ZenGo Taps Visa to Launch Crypto Debit Card in US
Crypto wallet app ZenGo announced on Tuesday that it has joined Visa Fast track program and will develop a crypto payment card.
Initially, ZenGo card will be issued in the US, and then expanded to the other parts of the world.
ZenGo’s credit card will be the first card tied to a self-hosted, on-chain, multi-currency wallet where funds are controlled by the user, according to the company. With the ZenGo Visa card, ZenGo wallet users will be able to spend their funds anywhere in the world online and offline (as long as Visa is accepted).
The company stated, "We are very excited to have the opportunity to work on such a service with VISA. We thank their team for their trust and cannot wait to bring this card to the market."
At the time, ZenGo CEO Ouriel Ohayon said: “This is an important step forward in our quest to make crypto-currency useful and usable by everyone. Payment is one of the most important and underserved needs of our industry and we are excited to work with Visa on this.”
Cuy Sheffield, Head of Crypto at Visa, commented,“As the preferred network for digital currency wallets, we are excited to help innovative fintechs like ZenGo harness the value of Visa’s network. Through the Fast Track program, we can support ZenGo with access to Visa’s experts, technology, and resources to scale with efficiency.”
