This year, we will continuously follow the executive moves of various brokers and fintech companies in the financial sector, as well as crypto firms. In the following article, we present a statistical analysis of the executive movements in the forex / crypto market from January 2024 to February 6 2024.
Hiring vs. Promotion vs. Leaving
By filtering the Fazzaco News database, the data in this article uses a total of 48 news under the Executive Moves tag reported by Fazzaco since January 2024, involving 55 job changes across 46 companies.
From the perspective of company type, it is divided into three categories for statistics: namely, brokers (30); fintechs (14); and crypto firms (2). Such classification is far from accurate for certain firms operate astride more fields, providing both trading as well as B2B tech solutions. Moreover, we did not include executive changes in large financial institutions that provide pan-financial services.
We categorized the personnel movements as follows:
External hiring: 31 hires, 20 from 18 brokers, 9 from 8 fintechs, and 2 from 2 crypto firms; (3 of them returned to previous employers)
Internal promotion: 14 promotions, 8 from 8 brokers and 6 from 6 fintechs;
Leaving: 10 leavings, 8 from 7 brokers, 2 from 2 fintechs (1 left to start up own business).

Therefore, from the above chart, we can roughly infer the following data distribution (as shown below): In the industry executive movements from January to February 6, 2024, 56.36% are hires, 25.45% are promotions, and the remaining 18.19% left.

By company type, brokers have seen 20 hires, 8 promotions, and 8 leavings; for fintechs, 9 hired, 6 promoted and 2 left. Only 2 crypto firm executive moves are recorded, both are hires.

Since January 2024, many financial firms have seen executive changes. For example, Markets.com, an online trading broker under Finalto Group, appointed three senior executives in just two months: Marcelo Spina as the new chief operating officer, Elena Christodoulou as the head of Europe, and Ali Makki as the head of Middle East operations.
On the other hand, Sam Eder, the emerging markets manager of OANDA, resigned and co-founded a new website called marketmates.com, which focuses on trading services.
