ASIC Appoints Joe Longo as New Chair
The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) today announced its appointment of Joe Longo as new Chair and Sarah Court as an additional Deputy Chair.
Joe boasts a wealth of domestic and international experience. Before arriving at the Australian regulator, Joe will finish his time at law firm Herbert Smith Freehills. Before this role, Joe served as National Director of Enforcement from 1996 to 2000. Over the course of his career, Joe has also worked at Deutsche Bank, where he spent 17 years.
Sarah joins the regulator from Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), where she stayed for 13 years and served as Commissioner. Sarah began her career at Australian Government Solicitor in 1999, and then she joined University of South Australia in 2009, where she most recently served as Advisory Board Member.
Commenting on these new appointment, ASIC Chair James Shipton, who resigned from the role last year, remarked that the Commission will work with Joe and Sarah over the coming weeks to manage a smooth transition to his leadership of the organisation.
