Euronext to Acquire the Tech Businesses from Nexi’s Capital Markets Activities

Euronext, the leading pan-European market infrastructure, announced today the acquisition of Nexi’s technology businesses which drive the exchange’s MTS, Euronext’s leading fixed-income trading platform, and Euronext Securities Milan.
The deal will be for €57m in cash, and is expected to close in the second half of 2022, according to the official press release.
Part of its strategy, this acquisition will cement Euronext’s technology competencies and capabilities in trading and post trade. Also, this will reinforce the the core operations of MTS and Euronext Securities Milan.

Nexi, the leading Italian PayTech in digital payments, has been Euronext’s partner for 30 years.
“This sale, consistent with our strategy following the mergers with SIA and Nets, will allow us to focus further on our core business, digital payments, accelerating our growth in Europe and focusing on the realisation of synergies," said Renato Martini, Digital Banking & Corporate Solutions Director at Nexi.
Previously, Fazzaco reported that Euronext saw an 16% increase in total cash markets trading in May from the previous month. Besides, its financial results for the first quarter of 2022 revealed a strong performance in all metrics.
Further, Euronext has formed a partnership with J.P. Morgan to deliver direct access to the Danish market.
