Interactive Brokers Experiences Overall Dip in Key Financial Metrics for August 2023

Interactive Brokers, a US-based automated global electronic broker, has released its monthly financial results for August 2023, unveiling an overall decrease in key performance metrics in this month.
During this period, the broker experienced a yearly dip in net revenue, income before tax, profit margin, and earnings per share (EPS). Specifically, net revenue and income before tax fell 5% and 14%, respectively, to $ $1 billion and $ $652 million.
Daily Average Revenue Trades (DARTs) reached 1.931 million, down 2% year-over-year and 3% month-on-month. The average commission per cleared Commissionable Order was $ $3.09, including exchange, clearing, and regulatory fees.
Client accounts for this month, however, totaled 2.33 million, an increase of 19% on a yearly basis. Client equity came in at $ $377.6 billion, surging 22% compared to the year-ago moth, but declining 2% from $386.2 billion in July.
Besides, client margin loan balances stood at $ $42 billion, falling 2% on yearly basis and 3% on a monthly basis, respectively. Client credit balances were $ $99 billion, including $3.4 billion in insured bank deposits sweeps, 3% higher over the last same period.
In August, Interactive Brokers has announced the launch of fractional shares trading for Canadian stocks and ETFs.
